I promised some visuals last week, so here there are.
The scene is just a simple cube but you can see how the interface, lights, and how different material properties work - Refraction, Reflection, Opacity, Metalness.
This sounds great! Is there a plan for a open beta? Or do we need a „old“ licence for this?
We'll most likely have an open beta program. Since a huge part of the software is rewritten from scratch it would be nice if we can get feedback from you guys before the official release.
More information on this matter will be published when the times comes.
Regarding the "old-license". We'll do our best to make V-Ray for Blender to work with an earlier version of V-Ray Standalone like V-Ray 3 for example. Depending on the compatibility, however it might be necessary to disable old V-Ray versions that don't work well with the new version of V-Ray for Blender. I'm guessing that we will have at least two major versions that will work well but I'm not sure for older versions.
Is it supporting both V-Ray 3.x and V-Ray Next like previous V-Ray for Blender build did ?.
As mentioned above, we'll do our best but since V-Ray 3.x is already outdated I'm not sure if it will work well with the new version of V-Ray for Blender. We'll do our best to do it but we'll see what will happen.
At this point, we haven't got plans for Linux version but if there are lots of requests we may include this into to the ToDo list. Currently, our focus is to release support for Blender 2.8, then we'll focus more on the new features and improvements.

Looking good! Can't wait to see the material nodes.
Is Chaosgroup planning to implement all the features of VRay in Blender (with time, of course)?
Or will Chaosgroup implement initially some basic VRay features, and will add more features in the future based on our request?
Could we provide to you some feedback on the requested features we would like to have implemented in that future? (maybe that helps to have a list of priorities? maybe in a new specific forum thread?)

I see that you are working on 2.82. Does final version will be based on 2.83 LTS?
