  • Vray saves "bumpnormals" image automatically - I didn't tell him he should do so

Hi, when I render with VFB I automatically get a bumpnormals image. Does anybody know what's going on?

    Cheers

It is a channel needed for the denoiser.

Ok, thank you. Why does the denoiser need it?

The main reason is to distinguish noise on flat surfaces from bumped surfaces with small details. The two would have quite different bump normals and the denoiser would try to preserve the detail of the bumped surface, while denoising the flat one.

Ok, but for me it is kind of giveaway, that I don't need?

            Hello steilvorlage.de,

As I already mentioned here, we just released V-Ray 6 for Cienam4D, update 1 and with it we have added an option to save only the RGB Channel when denoiser or lens effects are active. More about that can be found here. You can download the latest builds from here. You can also find what's new in Update 1 by checking this forum post.
