Renee, what is the problem you have seen now?

EDIT: I get the bug again at my old scene too. I will send the scene to Joe.
Yes it was an old drawing, not that old ,it is the one I was working on.

Also I have notice that RC1 and that new patch are much more slower with the rendering, building the light cache takes the same time, but rendering is I would say almost twice as slow,

There have been modifications to how refraction is handled. Try reducing the max-depth from 5 to 2 in the global switches. If you want you can send me the scene and I can see if there is anything else going on.

Ok - the problem had to do with switching between mirror and glossy reflection layers. Something stupid behind-the-scenes. I fixed it and re-posted the RC again, so if you have VRayForRhino4_RC_1.01.0000.exe and are getting that irritating reflection bug, re-download the RC. Two patches in one day...gotta love it

It is already at 2,it happens on every drawing so it is not specific to one drawing. If I use the standard camera, and a directional light (no vray sky or sun)I am back to my original speed, the one I had with beta 2.

          Thanks for the patch

          Renee

one other thing, now to get a reflection in the glass,if I use the sky no problem,if I use a bitmap, where before I would use a multiplier of 70 or around I am now up to 7000 ....

          edit may 2

I manage to get up to speed again,by uninstalling RC1 and patch 1,rebooting the computer, installing patch 2 only, rebooting and now the speed seems to be the same.

... same for LC, the save-after-rendering option dosn't work.

              * Texture UI: if I set repeat 10, than the texture preview show less repeat (approx. 1.2).

              * option "snap to grid" of the right mouse button menu of the framebuffer curve correction dosn't work

Spawner :when a map is used in the reflection background,it does not load on the slave, even if a copy of the file is there. The result is difference in color everywhere it should reflect.

edit oops directly in the environment background it does not works,in the reflective environment it works.

                • Re: **** PLEASE POST ALL VFR4 RC PROBLEMS HERE *****

I have just started using RC1 and am very glad that you have included a "render window" option (right-click render in the vray toolbar) but have also come across a few problems with it.

firstly after I cancel a rendering (in "render window" mode) there is a "press enter when done" command in the command line which is very annoying as I immediately want to edit a material and the material editor will not open because rhino is still waiting for me to finish the "render window" command.

Then after I have adjusted my material I right-click the render icon (for "render window") but it doesn't "render window" at all - it renders the whole view instead.

One other issue I have come across, is that if I adjust a material in the material library, it doesn't apply the new material to the objects that have that material applied, I have to re-apply the material to these objects (when I am assigning materials by layer anyway)

                  This can be rather annoying

I am sure these are only minor coding errors, but when corrected they will make a great difference.

I am loving the progress guys, keep it up.

                    Hi PhiD,
I'm using v3, but just for your info, when I do a renderwindow I am able to minimize the frame buffer, hit enter (as prompted) and adjust materials, geometry, etc., and the render is still running. Helpful.
I think that renderwindow is a Rhino command, but I agree that it should act more like the render command. Maybe that's a wish and not a bug.

                      Interesting Craig,

I don't know whether adjusting the material during a render is a good or a bad thing.

Does it automatically update the material in the render?

I think my machine would be a bit sluggish if I tried to do anything while it's rendering

I just came across a problem, don't know if it's a rhino thing or vray.

Rhino just crashed! But all was not lost, there was a Rhino Crash Dump file on the desktop, I opened it and everything appeared to be there, the layers had materials applied to them.

But when I tried to edit the material, I found that all of the materials had disappeared from the Material editor

Wouldn't be too much of a problem if I had exported all of my materials, but . .

                          OK, I am busy today!

                          Playing around with displacement! Great!

am trying to use a grid procedural map in the displacement slot, and set the multiplier to .2, but it seems to be resetting the multiplier to 1.

I have just discovered I can get the same effect (less displacement) by adding a grey colour in the Fill colour slot, but there may be another time when multiplier is useful?

This bug may have been posted before - if so excuse my ignorance - but whenever I try to export a material and import it afterwards, V-Ray says that the material is corrupt. I have tried exporting to different folders etc. - I have newer been able to import the exported material afterwards. I am using the latest available version of VFR4 RC.

just started to play around with distributed rendering. I started DRSpawner on six machines, tried to render with IM+LC. All is well until prepass starts. Also tried with
QMC+LC. The render is black except for a few buckets. Any ideas?

If you change the button command to this:

                                _renderwindow _pause _enter

                                you don't enter anymore.

_renderwindow is a standard rhino command and works since a very long time, only a button was missing.
