  • Re: ***PLEASE POST ALL V-Ray for Rhino 1.0 BUGS HERE***

Do somebody know, is there a differnce between RC1 and final release of Rhino4? I must finish my current project first (with RC1 and VfR4beta - hope anything will work - Joe is a great help with the hard work on the plugin), befor I can buy R4.

When I pick a renderinwindow box on a wide aspect render, the box doesn't correspond to the same position in the outputed image. This gets worse the closer you move to either side of the image. It makes hard guesswork to re-render a part of an image.

      Thanks,
      Gavin

Is it possible that the output window is just zoomed out so it only appears to not be in the exact same spot? If not- could you give me a specific size I could try , along with your desktop's screen resolution.

          hi I'm Davide from Italy!

I have a big problem with Rhino v-ray!

When I render a model (size 70mb) the program Freeze my PC! I have to rebot manually every time!
This doesn' t happen when I render it using the standard configuration without GI enabled.

My pc config is AMD Athlon 64 3400, RAM 764MB, nvidia 6600 GT 128mb.

Please answer me as soon as you can!

Could you send me the file? If you could upload it to ftp://ftp.asgvis.com/incoming I can take a look and try to figure out what is happening. Thanks.

                • Re: **** PLEASE POST ALL VFR4 BETA 1 PROBLEMS HERE *****

I sended Joe some bugs befor, but befor new beta user spend time to discover it, I post it here again:

                  - global gamma color correction at 2.2: 100% reflective metals show the environment dimmed (work around: set filter color per acolor at 1.01 or more)

                  - "_renderwindow" in GI mode based on LC (use for glossy rays) cause that the reflected objects are shown dark in reflections

                  - if an cylindrical mapping is used and the widget is rotated, than it can cause strong geometric artefacts

                  - if I set an other mapping channel than 1, than the texture preview of the texture UI dosn't work. the textures should be shown independent from the mapping channel.

                  - if I render the same RGB color direct and per texture, than I get two different rendered colors.

                  - if I set a decal without reflection layer it works fine, but if I set a fresnel reflection (also with alpha map), than I get a light shadow of the whole decal surface

                  - if a texture is set at a material, than it works only, if the Rhino texture mapping is enabled (simple case "surface"). But, if the texture is set at the Rhino material properties, than it works without enabled mapping function too.

But, I don't want to forget to say, this Beta help me to render two big projects per Rhino 4, that would be inpossible per Rhino 3. Thank you for the work on the plugin and the help. ;D

                  • Material not working...

I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure out what.
I open a fresh Rhino 4 file (I'm at home using the R4 demo version and not registering the VfR4 beta, if that makes a difference). I create a simple plane, create a material with a texture in the diffuse slot. The image in the editor shows my wood texture (a jpeg). The spherical iage preview shows it too. The rendered viewport shows it. I hit render (default settings) and I get a brown plane, no wood grain.
Is something turned off that I'm missing?

Edit: Now I notice that materials are just not working. I have a mirror material (basic reflection) that is previewing fine but coming out white. Maybe I need to reinstall this beta...

                    Thanks,
                    Craig

Also something to note- I had to uninstall my VfR3 to test this beta. Can VfR3 not be installed while testing the beta? This is going to make it hard since I don't own Rhino 4 yet. Will to VfR3 SR1 beta be out soon? I guess I'd rather go with R4 VR4, but I don't wield the checkbook!

                    • Mouse-over problem

Tiny bug, but something funky is happening when I mouse-over things in the visopt settings. Move your cursor up and down over text and the tooltips start referring to the wrong tool.

Reflections are working fine here, only not at 100%. Hmm?

I believe thats a bug with the mapping channels. The default surface uv channel is 0 by mistake. IF you add a custom channel to be at channel 1 you'll be fine. Or make your texture look at channel 0.

I'm not sure why you would have to uninstall VfR3 to install VfR4 - they aren't on the same license.

VfR3 SR1 or VfR4 will not cost anything to anyone who owns VfR. VfR SR1 will make an appearance before the end of this beta.
