  • Lights on Off Layers

I have a directional light on a layer that is turned off, but the light is being used. If I turn the layer on and hide the light, it correctly is ignored.
I have "lights" and "shadows" checked in the general tab.

when adding a reflection layer there is already a fresnel map assign to it.

The "override gamma" of the texture UI show an effect at the rendered material preview but is missing at the rendering.

I don't think the fresnel map is a bug, its just our new default setting. Considering how 98% of the time I add the fresnel map any way I think its good. We'll be switching around a few of the default settings, so things like the fresnel map or turning on GI will already be done.

not a bug but annoying to me at least.

Even when I need it,I very often change the IOR,so...

if I don't need it I have to go there and change turn it off
and if I need it I still have to go there and change it...

so it is just clicking for nothing IMO,it is a good thing for the option like GI,but for materials I am not sure I like it. :-\

The best would be, Joe add the basic material presets like suggested some days befor.

PS: I like the current default fresnel too.

I think, not all user know, that fresnel mean "plastic/ceramic" look, but I suppose, most user find a way to get a metal look per disable fresnel.

Bug/wish: global options: for example if I click on "light cache", than the menu expand, but is not full visible. So, I try to scroll down per scroll wheel, but it dosn't work and I must use the scroll bar. I know, it's a very small workflow issue.

                    Hy All,
1 BUG) I've a lot of problem to use bitmap as a reflect filter (crash for sure..)

2 question)It's just my computer so instable? I can't finish a render without a crash. It's because the version isn't stable or I have more trouble than others?

3 wish) because of crash could be possible (I don't know how many work needs) to have Vray as a different process? IF Vray crash maybe we will keep Rhino open and will be possible to restart only Vray...

                    Thanks
                    Riccardo

@Riccardo: I used the beta 1 and 2 the last days at heavy scenes and for turntable animations, crashes are very seldom.

I think this was mentioned somewhere, but I couldn't find it:

The window in the material properties pane that listed what material is assigned to the selected object is gone. Also, when I click "browse" it lists the material as "none" even when a vray material is assigned.

Craig, the missing material name is a rhino interface bug and will be fixed per next rhino SR.

I discover the sun system: very interesting. Great, it is possible to control the sun system per distant light.

One question: if I enable "override sun's parameter" at the env options, than this seems to be ignored, the parameters of the sun light stay active. Bug?

Bug: the intensity multiplier of the sky/sun options dosn't control the sun intensity only, it control the sky and the sun. So, I find no way to control the intensity of the sun only.

Same with diffuse colors. Simple test: set a white env and a white sphere. Without gamma correction the sphere get approx. the same color like the env. Now enable gamma correction -> sphere is much darker than the env.
Now set the sphere at a diffuse white Acolor (multiplier 1). The sphere show the same color like the background.
So, it seems to be, that the input gamma control do something wrong with colors and the Acolor seems to be not corrected.
