  • ***PLEASE POST ALL V-Ray for Rhino 1.0 BUGS HERE***

in the meantime, if you use lightcache, use store glossy. For me it helped rendering SSS without crashing Rhino

The simple Rhino materials support the Vray shiny plastic, but if I press the "metallic" button, than I see no effect. I think, if the user press this button, than the fresnel effect could be disabled for a metalic reflection.

I like to use the simple Rhino material for simple mass materials.

        • COPY/PASTE Between windows not copying materials

When I copy an object from one window an paste into another instance of Rhino it does not copy the materials into the library. I often have libraries of objects in a file and copy them from one file to the other. Is this not possible with VRay?

Is a known bug and will be fixed. In a previous version it was working fine.

                • Weird Buckets (re-post from main bug area)

This is a repost since the topic was in the main bug area (wrong place). I am still getting the errors when I have soft shadows on som eproducts. Doesn't matter if it's a direct light with a radius or an area light.

                  ---ORIGINAL MESSAGE ---

Hey Everyone. I've been rendering a lot of things on white for work, and I've been getting some weird results. Lately, I have noticed that certain buckets appear to be rendering slightly darker than their neighbors. Here are some examples:

The set up for all of these is fairly simple, just one area light and some GI on a white sweep.

It looks like the problem comes up when I have texture maps in that particluar bucket. (Notice that the errors are often in buckets containing a MAP). Refer to the first image for a good example. Hmmmm.

here's a zip file with the options, the scene, and the light cache and textures ....

                  http://www.orange22.com/tmp/RenderError.zip

                  Any Ideas?

Also, it would be neat if there was a button in The VRay options window to export all of the settings to the clipboard as text so it would be easy for us post them for support. Just a thought.

                  Thanks in advance.

Try for workaround to use an other GI method. I would test LC-IM (-3/-1 and 64 samples), maybe it help.

If I use the sRGB mode and save the image in png format, than it is saved as RGB. The framebuffer support a simple good postwork, so it would be nice, if the user could save what the framebuffer show.

I have read at the rhino forum, that this is like the RCM tool works.

If I set a spot light to a plane and set hardness 0, than I get a soft edge of the spot, but in sRGB mode, the spot show a hard edge allways.

Transparency mapping is not visible in the z-depth pass. So I can not add a post fog effect to an exterior rendering with billboard trees.

                                [edit]
For the transparency mapping - are you saying that none of the layers transparency maps show up in Z-Depth? Does that mean that a straight-up color (no map) will show up Z-Depth?
