I got (another) crazy idea : Vray materials website

Everyone has seen the site with all the Vray for Max materials at http://www.vray-materials.de/ and at last count they had 1,426 materials. And, I understand the converter (vray-max to vray-rhino) is done or pretty close.

Here's the crazy idea : Instead of everyone manually converting the same materials, why can't we get a Vray for Rhino material site just like those other guys? We could convert all the materials at once, upload them once, and then folks could download -- or add -- to the library when needed.

NEW site for Vray RHINO materials?

If someone offers to do a batch conversion of a few hundred Vray-Max materials, I can look into the possibility of hosting a new site to share them all. Anybody up for it?

We need materials badly! Im all for this idea
It will help ease the steep learning curve for new users.
I always thought we could stimulate the shader community by having contests like maxwell and vray max.

I think this deserves its own thread

hi,

we have 8 pages of vray materials for rhino... each vismat comes complete with texture and all but all set to 1 so you can adjust to your scene...

absolutely great job!

perfect:
- perfectly easy structure - direct one-click zip-download is great!
- ideal preview size!
- preview thumbnail within the zip file is very important!

suggestions:
- when expanding maybe substructure like wood, concrete will be needed
- i would add substructure archive download (wood.zip)

they are not valid asgvis materials

they ALL work but you need the latest version of vray it says at the top of each page...

Click on image for larger preview and on tiltle to download. " These materials are made with version 01.10.68 of V-Ray for Rhino

Problems downloading materials

Hi
I have difficulties downloading the materials that are not in .zip or .rar format. When its .vismat it does not download, it just opens a new blank page in Explorer. Any suggestions?

We set up a new website for downloading vray materials and others like Brazil for Rhino...

They are subject to an annual fee of 5€ per year (unlimited download)
