Mattdpa - Sorry to hear that we got you hooked on the new features. Hopefully you'll be able to sink your teeth in to the current beta version a bit better than the 1.48.66 version. Be aware there's still a few nasty bugs in there, which is why we haven't released it yet. That being said, welcome aboard!

Re: Call for more testers: The mighty bug hunt!

Hello my name is Rik from the Netherlands.

I would like to join The mighty bug hunt!

I'm used to render my sketchup models in 3Ds Max.
When I discovered about Vray for Sketchup for my Mac I was impassioned.
I downloaded the 30 day trial, but after a few times trying I was disappointed.
There were to many bugs and even my very stable mac crashes.
So I definitely would not buy the version that is offered right now...
      Let's try the improved version!

I would be really glad if I could help out finding bugs, I've already found some problems when trying to render in parallel view with the demo version of 1.48.66, hope that is something that will be fixed.

It seems with the old Vray version (1.05.30) you could more easily render 2D views, by putting the model in a parallel view (no perspective) and simply push render and it would work (even without physical camera on).

The new version 1.48.66 does not allow this, not even if I set the field of view to 1° (which manipulates the perspective into almost 2D), it doesn't work.

This is something I would want to try working with, I've tried some tweaking with the physical camera off, but to no avail, it seems like it just is not possible to make renders in 2D...

There is also another bug, where I simply can't even start to render, and no error messages or anything! I hope you are working on an improved version (it seems like it, as I've read somewhere that you've fixed a lot of bugs).

As I said, I would gladly like to participate into making Vray better... if you are interested in using me as a bug-monkey please let me know!

          Regards,
          Pledurmadur

PLEDURMADUR - A bug-monkey? This is quite the interesting proposition. I accept! Indeed we have fixed some bugs, we are currently up to 1.48.78, which is a distant relative to 1.48.66. Many old bugs vanished, many new ones appeared. All in all though, it's getting better every day.

Haha, yeah I would like to be called a bug-monkey when working as a beta-tester.

so how do I proceed, do you send me a mail or pm with a link to the newest beta version...?

Looking forward to helping you out with this project, hopefully I can make some difference!

Just go to our main forum page: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?action=forum , and look for the forum listed at the very bottom. It should be labled "VFSU BETATESTING". I'd link directly to it, but then that wouldn't be a good test of anyone's ability to follow directions, troubleshoot and think on their feet now would it? .

I emailed you guys regarding some displacement issues with the current version of vray for sketchup and you recommended I sign up to help out with the beta testing - can I?

                      Thanks -

Hi I would like to join the mighty bug hunt as part of the beta testing team. I am particularly interested in:

                              - the bug that deals majorly in materials (temp folders, etc) because at the end I have almost always encounter this bug (and at the end, I have to move on from using V-Ray for SketchUp to using 3ds Max V-Ray) in my every project rendering

                              - prior to the bug mentioned above, trying to find the answer to why the bug appears when rendering above 800 x 600 resolution (1024x768 and above), while in some of the projects of mine, rendering won't even succeed at the lowest resolution of 640 x 480.

                              - the bug that always result in the program not responding when dealing with large 3d model (note that it might not the problem with my PC).

Allowing me to test the newest patch would be appreciated, thank you.

DIDITZZZ - Any friend of Ichigo, is a friend of mine. You're in. The material bug, I'm not familiar with, so hopefully it's been fixed. The render size issue, could be related to a few a few of the fixes we made recently, so it's possible that issue could be resolved. We certainly would love to hear how the latest version is working for you though.
                                Best regards,
