an exterior test

Hello everybody, long time no see. Here is my latest exterior test. Done in SU7 and vray4su…C&C are always welcomed

Re: an exterior test

THose trees are just billboards ??? they look just there ..
where did you get them ??
GReat render ..exteriors are so complicated to me ..

Re: an exterior test

Hey Taouklai, good to see you work again. Very realistic and also artistic. Hard to tell if those are billboards or high poly 3d trees.

Re: an exterior test

Couldn´t expect less from you Taoklai, great render, trees look 3D to me, but they still look amazing, people that are not into renders wouldnt notice. congratulations.

Re: an exterior test

Hi TAOKLAI your render looks great, wheare you get thoose trees ? :o

Re: an exterior test

shame on you for posting a picture here

Re: an exterior test

Fantastic work, maybe you could post a sketchup wireframe for us?

Re: an exterior test

Great stuff! The trees and grass look very nice and convincing. I also like the soft shadow of the tree on the wall.

Re: an exterior test

thx for the comments
here is a wireframe - all trees are 2d in SU…but the trees are full 3d (i rendered them in max and used them in SU as billboards)…this way i could match the lighting, hope this helps.

Re: an exterior test

Thanks taoklai, thats great stuff. Congrats once again.

Re: an exterior test

How did you achieve that colour tone?
HDRI? Photoshop?

Re: an exterior test

First of…love your work

Enjoy your realistic, yet artistic renders.

One question
If you went to the trouble of rendering trees in max (then making a billboard) why didnt you render the whole thing in max

Re: an exterior test

10x for the comments. Alrami , welcome to the forum…it´s a shame about Damien…
thomthom - the color effect is mostly photoshop. The scene was lit with vray sun and sky.
HOLMES1977 - i actually rendered this scene in max because i wanted the full 3d trees´, but the problem was that the trees have sss leaves, reflection and displacement so the render took 3h. With the billboards it took 1h and rendering the trees separatley took 30 min…so i wanted to see this result and how it would affect rendertime and quality…hope this helps

Re: an exterior test

excellent contrast between the trees and the building. i wish you post more man… each time you post you have additional insights.. great job again tao…

Re: an exterior test

thanks nomeradona, I´ll try posting more in the future  - I´ll start working soon on a big project and I plan on posting the process on this forum. 10x again or the comments

Re: an exterior test

i mean photo, just being sarcastic…
damn im very bad at jokes

Re: an exterior test

taoklai,

Beautiful work, love the weathering on the textures, soft warm lighting and perfect amount of diffuse glow. I see you’ve got clumps of geometrical grass around the base of the building, but is the rest of the grass just straight displacement or is there a lot of post work on it also? It looks great!

Nice design too BTW, good proportions, massing and fenestration.

Re: an exterior test

10x for the comments JACKSON, the grass is just bump (bump multiplier is 10), no displacement (trying to cut back rendertime because it was done on my laptop) and no photoshop was needed for the grass (exept te area closest to the house - a little clone brushing with grass brush). The design of the house is mine and it was intended to be an urban house but i tried to see how it looked in a wild environment…and i liked it

Re: an exterior test

Hi again, Taoklai, can you tell my about lighting ? Did you use rectangular/omni ligts ?

Re: an exterior test

to SIMAS : The scene was lit by phisycal sun with a size multiplier of 5 and phisycal sky, no other kind of lights were used. (but if i were to replace the sun with a certain light, I would use rectangular lights instead of omni.)
