Anyone else dealing with this ridiculous new licsening and having screw up everything and not work causing you to loose work!?!?!? I contacted support they were zero help just had me try the same crap the help docs say should work only it doesnt.. I keep getting the stupid cant find license server even though it’s been installed a few times now!! I really hate Chaos!! They really know how to screw up good software! They also closed the before it was fixed!
Hi @GeoWh , right away, our apologies about the challenges you had to experience here in regards to the new licensing setup. While it will not help at this specific point we have also released an official statement about this you can find here. Just so you are aware.
Furthermore, we’ve received the additional reply via the open existing case of yours. As you’ve likely seen already we have gotten back to you too and would like to look into this accordingly via a dedicated screen-sharing conference.
I hope there’s a chance for you to book a session soon in order for us to resolve this behavior as quickly as we can. Hereby thanks a lot in advance for any further replies as well to my colleague especially.
Please also let me know if anything else may come up in the meantime.
There’s a 10 minute, 5 step process to assign users to your Enscape license pool over here. This process removes the need to install Chaos license server or provide VPN access for users outside of LAN network.

You’re not alone! This is the WORST licensing program I’ve ever seen in a software. It’s unstable, glitchy, and just plain FRUSTRATING. After getting my license working after hours of trial and error weeks passed without issue and now over the last couple of days I now have this new gem to deal with. And you’re right, Enscape customer support is highly lacking as well!
Fix this Enscape! ![]()
Hi @suguru , I understand your frustration of course but could you please still forward this to our licensing team as you’ve done before?
We did get back to you via the previous case(s), the most recent one asking to make sure that your MacOS is up to date given that that may have been causing or attributing to any problems, so you can reply back via this existing case (Nr. 273361) or otherwise re-submit a new report as detailed here. Thank you in advance for that.
Once more you can also feel free to let me know when said report has been sent in and we’ll investigate further.
Yes, but unfortunately getting back to someone doesn’t negate the frustration caused by the product in the first place. I fell like Chaos/Enscape is using it’s users as digital guinea pigs, testing unstable release after unstable release. That’s what betas are for, yet somehow there seems to be a lack of quality control in the final releases still. So when that’s a companies practices, prepare for a very frustrated user base.
Report submitted with logs.
I’m a LONG TIME Enscape user I was a beta tester for SketchUP when @Last owned it. A research Fellow at the U of M VRDL, a licensed Architect since 1995. Started out my computer journey with mainframes and punch cards…so I’ve been around the block a few times.
I LOVED Enscape and it’s the ease of use and trouble-free installation and use. This Chaos Release 4.1 is MANY steps backward. I just experienced the licensing issues listed above. I’ve NEVER had licensing issues with previous releases, other than not releasing my license from my desktop when using enscape on my laptop.
Also, the startup time and screenshot times are now double what they were before. The BEAUTY of Enscape was how fast it was at rendering. It’s like Chaos wants to turn Enscape into a botched version of Vray now. I know I’m not alone here but leave it alone and stop making paying customers jump through so many hoops. Eventually we’ll stop jumping and find a different circus to attend.
Hi @nvizeon , I am sorry to hear about that - Once you get the chance it would be ideal if you can simply forward any licensing problems you currently experience via our support team (as detailed here) and we’ll be able to resolve these ongoing problems (including checking out why your screenshots take longer to render based on your machine) as quickly as possible.
Please feel free to let me know once you’ve submitted a support report including logs ideally here as well so that I can check if we’ve received everything we require to troubleshoot this right away. This way we can also then further analyse why the screenshots of yours take twice as long based on the project you’ve used and such alongside given that we would really like to get behind the cause of this.
That would be highly appreciated and thank you in advance for your efforts.

In general, I just downloaded the newest version of Enscape and installed it. This “fixed” the license issue but it was a pain to have to go through that when I was stressed and under the gun to get something out the door.
I prefer the Rhino Zoo software Licensing ecosystem over the VRLS local server and Cloud licensing format.
To respond more “fully” to your comment would require an investment of my time to “document” and “provide” you with empirical “data”
If I can set aside the time I’ll try to do that. For now, you’ll have to take my word for it.
Previous versions of Enscape had a “login” functionality built-in the Enscape and you could see in the settings that you were using your log-in to access the software. Now with Chaos, there is a “separate” licensing software and service that needs to be running again “SEPARATE” from the host software and Enscape in order for Enscape to function. This added “step” complicates the process. I believe I changed the Windows Start-up applications and removed Chaos because I don’t like the “Pop-up” windows for Start Chaos Unified Login and Manage Chaos License Server to appear each time I start my computer. If there was a setting to make these a “background” service that starts up with Windows boot but no visible window appears, that would be preferable. With previous versions of Enscape we ONLY had to deal with license issues within the software settings of Enscape plugin in Revit, SketchUP and Rhino. Now there is a completely separate license verification and login process that renders the software useless unless you make sure that the Chaos license server issues are resolved “BEFORE” you hit the render button.
@nvizeon Thank you for bringing a more eloquent description of the bigger problem—beautifully said on all accounts.
I have a love/hate relationship with Enscape. It’s an incredible piece of software that they somehow manage to keep messing up. I’ve never been more immensely frustrated with a program that has so much insane potential. If only they could somehow make it stable and stop messing with it.
Still dealing with this mess in 2025. Im so behind. Just lost another opportunity. So I downloaded Twinmotion. I cant wait 4-5 days to get this licensing resolved. I paid for the damn software. At this point chaos needs to reimburse something for all the days of holding my cash and software LOCKED due to their glitchy licensing!!! BEYOND ANNOYED :cursing:
