Enscape for Sketchup - "Translucent" material

Hi there,

I notice that reflections are automatically applied as soon as I decrease the opacity of a material, even without any specific keywords.

However, if I want to show a thin white curtain for instance, it’s not possible to achieve the relative transparency of such a material without having it look like glass.

Any way around it ?

And if not, it would be a great and necessary addition in my opinion.

Cheers.

No solutions for now I think… Hope in some new materials in next release…

Right now, a transparent material immediately means glass. With the upcoming material editor for SketchUp (next Enscape release) you will be able to set it separately.

You mean a new editor or the preview editor? Beacouse the preview editor can’t do this kind of materials…

There is a roughness maximum for transparent materials for technical reasons currently. This may be removed or changed in the future, but at least it should be possible to set a roughness other than 0.

For thin curtains I take the attached material.

A traslucency material show another effect, it don’t should show like a trasparent…you should can’t see back objects…

like this :

But you do a good compromise

Hope in future in some upgrade materials…

So how can we create a matt translucent curtain fabric? The the results I get know are NOK. The material looks like glass…

With preview version and new material edition you can do a trasparent material (with mask) with roughness at 100%, but forget a vray2sides effect like link above…

I miss a simple vray2side effect at least for lights, if GI isn’t possible. But at the moment the effect works for the sun light only. (Rhino)
