how to render an image where you want part of it clear/transparent

when assigning a material for instance a grill to a rectangle. is there a way of making a colour transparent so you only see the metal part of the grill?

You need to use a png with a transparent background like the attached

amazing!! thanks

it seems to work on sketchup but making black blobs on enscape window?

probably because it was a flat face but when I extrude to give it a thickness it loses its transparency?

Weird.

It works ok for me here with a transparent PNG from the sketchup materials (chain link fencing)

Does it show a texture under the transparency area of the enscape material editor ? (cutout)

Maybe just go an check all your graphics drivers are upto date.

Ill have another go…is your fence 3d? not just a flat face?

It’s a flat material (I extruded it into a box also, to check it worked)

It’s one of the built in SketchUp Materials

thanks!! sorted it…I hadnt put the image as the texture in transparancy in enscape! whoop!! thanks again!
