Hi,
In the middle of a project we updated to Phoenix 3 and a strange behaviour of the Ocean texture occurred. It is as if the displacement texture follows the camera.
We updated phoenix from version 2.5 and with 2.5 everything rendered fine.
I have tried creating the whole scene from scratch but the displacement still moves with the camera.
We are using Maya 2014, Vray 3.4.06, phoenix 30301 and the latest working phoenix was version 22501
Here is a render of the issue:
Thanks,
Daniel
Hello,
Is it possible to send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can check it out?
Thank you,
Got the scene, thanks! Will check it and get back to you.
Hi Guys,
I submitted this same issue to support. Is there an ETA on a nightly, temp fix for this or workaround? Otherwise, it’s impossible to execute a tracking shot, over an ocean in Stereosopic, as this techique was orginally the only method available to us.
Thanks in advance
Best,
Milo
As we already spoke, it’s in the high priority list - as soon as we have a fix, i’ll write here
Thank you, Svetlin. We appreciate it. Will keep an eye out.
Hi KDaniel,
Have you managed to find a workaround?
Best,
Antonio
Hi Antonio
No, not really. We just went back to using version 2.2 again.

I’m on v3, is there a way for me to be provided version 22501 in the meantime so I can deliver this job while this is being fixed?
Just be aware that displacement height and look of water texture will differ between version 2 and 3. So it takes some tweaking to get matching results.
/Daniel
Hey guys, finally got it - the fix will be in tomorrow’s nightly builds (May 26).
Cheers!
Thanks Svetlin, We will look into this and get back if any problems.
Best,
Antonio
