Just updated to macOS Ventura and seems to have broken Enscape 1.1.19+921 with error message “EnscapeApplication” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Bin.
Thanks
Nick
Hi @nickcadsoftuk , and welcome to our Forum.
I’m afraid this is currently a known issue - We’re actively investigating right now and I’ll provide a workaround/guide for this behavior accordingly as soon as possible.
hi, im having the same problem - just purchased ENSCAPE yesterday … i haven’t managed to open it yet due to this problem… please help! thanks
Welcome to our Forum @eilat_dar !
I am very sorry that this has been your first impression with Enscape, but be assured that we’re working under pressure to resolve this behavior as quickly as we can. I’ll let you know immediately once I have a workaround to provide soon. We’re thus kindly asking for a bit more patience, and again, sorry for the inconvenience.
hi - any updates??
Not yet I’m afraid - I’ll post the dedicated solution immediately once it’s available!
same problem
Hi again…
do you know when the problem will be solved? i purchased ENSCAPE only 2 days ago and i haven’t been able to open it even once.
i bought it for a a very important project of mine but if the problem is not going to be fixed today i will have to search for a different rendering software.
please advise ASAP - otherwise - please credit my account.
I have a dedicated meeting in just a couple of hours in which I’ll be introduced into the workaround for this. A colleague of mine is already preparing a sticky thread as well with the solution. At this point I can assure you that you’ll get that solution today, in just about 2-3 hours tops. I really appreciate the patience and can of course also understand any frustration this may have caused.
@eilat_dar , @andredalpizzol , @nickcadsoftuk , you can now kindly check out the rest of my post for the promised workaround!
Enscape under macOS Ventura: a troubleshooting guide
Due to recent changes in the Gatekeeper service made by Apple in the MacOS 13 Ventura update, users may experience an unexpected behavior when opening Enscape via SketchUp for the first time after the system has been updated. You may be presented with a system error message that reads:
“´EnscapeApplication´ is damaged and can´t be opened. You should move it to the Bin.”
Please rest assured that Enscape is not damaged, and will run normally. Our developers are working on a fix for this issue according to the new Gatekeeper rules.
In order to remove the notification, please click “Cancel” and open the main system settings. There, select “Privacy & Security” in the left column and then scroll down to “Security” in the right part of the window. You will find an entry that says “´EnscapeApplication´ was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer”. Please click “Open Anyway” and enter your administrator password in the following step to unlock and apply this setting.
Next, please restart SketchUp and select “Open” in case you should be presented with a similar notification as in the initial step to activate Enscape. One more restart of SketchUp may be necessary after that.
From our experience, it is necessary to perform this workaround once if the issue comes up. Restarting SketchUp or the computer should preserve this setting. Should you have questions or issues with this process please contact us again.
Please keep me informed if you were able to solve the issue with the information above. Should you
have questions or issues with this process please contact us again.
Many thanks, back up and running again.
Now if you could only optimise for M1 Ultra / M2 ![]()
All the best
