Hi LeePuznowski,

The OS requirement for Vantage to run is Windows version 10.0.19041 or newer(Chaos Vantage). From thew log that you sent the Windows version is 10.0.17763. Older versions do not recognize the hardware raytracing capabilities of the RTX cards which are necessary for Vantage to work. I have a logged improvement for the error reporting regarding system requirements in our internal system under LAV-1540. If it is possible upgrade the server to that version of windows or newer and see if Vantage works then.

Best regards,
Alexander

Thanks for the info. Is there no workaround to this aside from upgrading our Windows System? Is this only specific to Vantage or also Vray GPU? I’ve been searching, but have found little information. An OS System upgrade will cost a few thousand, so I just want to be sure before we go that route.

Vantage uses DirectX Raytracing v1.1, which requires the aforementioned Windows update. This requirement does not apply to V-Ray GPU which does not use DirectX. I’m not so familiar with Windows Server. For the regular Windows it’s just an update package. Wikipedia does say that 17763 is the latest for WS2019, so I guess you’re out of luck. It’s a bit shocking the cost of this upgrade… Could you use a desktop Windows instead? Maybe even as a virtual machine (though I’m not sure how well it would run in a VM if it runs at all, but still worth a try)?
