  • A few tries

    Well, here are a few quick tests from me...
    Sorry about the low quality, i was trying out the Vray environment fog, too...

    This tool is amazing, just wish I could get it to work with DR!
    RAM was peaking near 1 GB (rendered at 900 pixels)







    maybe it's my setup, but the collision does not seem to behave as it does in their manual...

    • very cool images voltron7, esp like the sun through the fog ones

      i didnt think the collision was working either, but bear in mind it only shows up in the render, not in the viewport. Also, as I found, check what units your proxies are in. I was scaling up some as they were in cm not mm, so that affected the collision distance.

      • Thanks Peter, that's exactly what I noticed with the collisions, too. On the R&D forum, the next update is supposed to have a new collision...

            @ Da_elf,

            For the first one, I think it was

            -color was default

            -emission was 255, 255, 255

            -about 1700' distance

            -about 500' height (however, I was constantly changing views and moving both terrain and cameras in the Z direction by hundreds of feet at a time, don't ask why )

            -scatter gi was NOT checked
            -use all lights was NOT checked

            -added the vraysun as a fog node

            Note: This was first time trying fog, so these settings might be junk!
            EDIT: Also, Per Vray Help index, in the Vray system rollout, I checked "optimized atmospheric evaluation." I tried it both ways and didn't really notice a humanly significant difference

              • Those tests look great Voltron7. Nice mood.

                Not sure what your problems have been with DR, but that is working okay for me... I have had no issues with DR since I got my license up and running.

                  This is what happens when i try DR...


                  The ground has a map on it that is located in the same directory as the proxies, etc. (actually, all resources for the scene) and this directory is on the render node. I also left the fog active, and you can see, that DR is accessing everything but the vrayscatter....

                  I'm fairly certain it's got to do with the scatter license, I guess, because DR is working fine in other scenes that don't have any scatter in them.

                  • I suppose it's too obvious, but are you sure you installed the node license version of Vray scatter on your nodes? First time out I installed the wrong one and it did not work either so I know it's (sort of) easy to do. Once I installed the slave version I had no trouble at all.

                      Good idea, well, this is the one I installed "VRayScatterSetup_SP3_RS64x.exe" on the render node/slave. Unless I misread the install instructions (possible I guess) , I did it right...

                          Hey, it's working!
                          I
                          -deleted the plugin from slave
                          -merged objects into new scene
                          -created new (fresh) resource directory on slave
                          -restarted slave computer
                          -re-installed slave render node of vrayscatter

                          now it's working with DR...

                              • License Issue

                                Anyone else having trouble running the plugin because of rights issues? It seems that because I don't have admin rights I am getting an error and can't run scatter. But if I log in as an admin I can run it fine. Is there no way to run this plugin without admin rights?
