here it is. This sucks waiting I feel yalls pain! I have decided to photograph each one of the parts as they trickle in. Maybe I'll setup a quick poor-mans studio and get some decent shots in while I'm waiting.
jow:
Yeah i ordered everything ages ago (weeks) but I have everything except my cpu and ram
But i finally got around to putting everything else into my new case
With a combination of the bigger case more airey (spelling) case, and my good heatsink...my current cpu (athlon64 3000) stays under 30c when not in full load...currently 28c
See pics
got an email today to confirm order and to say its been sent, nothing to say there out of stock,i'll find out tomorrow!!!!!!
daforce that looks sweeet
what heatsink are you guys using?i could'nt make my mind up as to which one to go for,so have stuck with the one that comes with the processor.
i can always change it later..
well I managed to get my 4400x2 fired up last night.
The only problem Im having is the bios doesnt recognise the CPU so its only running on 1 thread.
All I need to do is flash the bios and all should be good (fingers crossed)
jow:
Damn it, i started this X2 purchasing spree and im the last to get any (X2's that is)
Yeah the case does look pretty nice, its hard to see just what the fan actually looks like so i took another pic its pretty funky.
I highly suggest you get your self one of these suckas. http://www.pccasegear.com/prod2513.htm
(obviously from a store closer to you) hehehe
Thats the heatsink that myself and jacksc02 are using (although he got the aluminium version)
Mine runs very quite and infact the actual cpu fan hardly spins at all (thermal control via the motherboard), at times i can almost count the revolutions and its still got my cpu at 28c
But if you get a different heatsink make sure you get some Artic Silver 5 as well, the artic silver is the thermal compound that helps the heat transfer from the cpu to the heatsink. It is a must have...like if you dont get it you will not get good cooling.
I can give more details if needed.
P.s. I would also recommend getting the heatsink now, as its a pain in ass the clean off the thermal compound or pad later on!!
Yeah most mobo's will need a bios update, you can get this from your motherboards website. I dont think the DFI needs an update tho, well im pretty sure mine doesnt.
jacksc02:
Yeah updates are very handy, and in your case for one other major reason, now your board willl support more than 3gb of RAM well i guess it wont make any difference until you buy that extra 2gb hey.
<edit, pics>
See the way the led lights a trail towards the inside of the fan...it looks awesome IRL
