Can some user please shed some light on how the USER BASED MATERIAL LIBRARY works?
Is it good for network environment?
We ahve loads of materials we would like to organize somewhere.
We have scripted a plugin to do this for us but unfortunatelly its still far from being finished..

Hey mate, looks good on Facebook.

If I can ask (or give a advice), loads of companies working in Archviz are using simple UV mapping (box/plane/etc) set to "real world" (or any auto generated UV mapping like the sweep etc).
Usually, they also work in meters as it's the best metric unit to handle jobs that are from a single room to a shopping center.
Would it be possible to have your materials that are ready for a "real world" mapping? Every time we use your mats, we need to convert the 1x1 tile to real world (who turns to be really small) in all the maps and set them to 1/5/10 meters.

Would be great if you had a checkbox in your settings asking what's the default unit scale of our files and have you materials adjusting accordingly so they are ready for real world mapping.

            Make sense?

                      1) Will we get all 360 materials listed here, metal, leather, wood, fabric, parquet as one package in the Presets Pro? Or will each section have to be purchased seperately? (Will more be added before the actual release?)

                      2) This description in the top right of this image, could you explain this formula and ratio's in pictures instead of words, so we can be clear what you mean by the sizes etc?
                      Kind Regards,

                        1. Yes, all materials will be included into VMPPmax (plan ahead about 1000 (or more) materials).
                        2. Formula is very simple: for example you need in project parquet plank width/height ratio 7:1 - width: 490mm, height: 70mm - (70 x 42 = 2940mm). Texture real-world size 2.94m x 2.94m or 115.748 x 115.748 in. This size prepared as default for Herringbones 7:1. Herringbones most commonly sized: Plank Width from 225 to 970 mm, Height from 40 to 140 mm. Ratio 7:1, 6:1, 5:1...

So are you saying this isn't automatic and I can't just tick "RealWorld" in UV map, but 1st have to sit and do some math?
                          Kind Regards,

No. When you tick Real-world checkbox, material textures will be automatically scaled and enabled to Real-World. Above I wrote about if you need other plank dimensions in texture (then you need manually change size in maps). By default Herringbones 7:1 are set as described.
If you use other units then CM (for example meters or inches), size will be automatically converted to proper value (used DecodeUniverseValue()...).
