Version 1.09.01u can't load scenes from Version 3a-c.
Version 3c is very buggy. When using 3D Displacement I got many fast exits.
Memory usage is low, but somethimes when I want to go in the Modifier List, I see my desktop.
I have some corrupted files too. Even autosave can corrupt the files.
Oh, my god what a hard day...
here is the message - DLL <d:\autodesk viz r4\plugins\Vraynet40.dlu> failed to initialize and DLL <d:\autodesk viz r4\plugins\Vrender40.dlu> failed to initialize - yes all files are in the right place
Thanks for your time on this -
Mike

Hmm. I'll have to check this out. I've had some fast exits too, but I'm not quite sure what's the problem and if it's VRay at all.

yes, version 3a, b and c are very buggy at the moment. Many fast exits. mostly if you select object with VRayDipsl-Modifyer or a light and try to open Modify-Window. I was try ing today to finish fast a job for a customer, an have had over 100 crashes within 8 hours. With 109 U there were no such problems.
There is no exact error-follwoing, just select object, opne Modify-Rollout, select object, rener, select light, open Modify-Rollout and after some time you will get it.
I seem to remember that someone was having similar problems (crashes) when they replaced the original libmmd.dll file with the one that comes with VRay. Try replacing that with the one that ships originally with Max (or the one from the U build)...
while we're talking about alpha and opacity maps in the refract slot..
I have to point out that there's a "bug" in it ..
apparently when using such materials on objects against the background it doesn't pick the environment background map on the masked 'transparent" area and returns the environment background color instead !

If you have chosen to override the reflect/refract environment (in VRay's Environment dialog) then this color/map will be used instead of the one specified in Max's Environment dialog.
