      many, many problems

      1) have some corrupted files (and autobackup files too)
      2) permanent crash (randomly)
      3) VRayNet50.dlu can`t initialize
      4) Version 1.09.02u can't load scenes from Version 3a, 3c

with original (from 02u version) libmmd.dll - same problems

      win XP + max 5.0 + vray 03a, 03c

I'll need some volunteers to help me solve this - people who have the time and desire to test 5-10 builds in a very short time Please send me an email to vlado@chaossw.com

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Phew, I think I finally got the displacement and random crashes - thanks to Robert Lechl for a scene that crashes reproducibly. Once I get confirmation that the new build is working reliably, I will upload it...

As for the U version not reading files from newer versions - this is not exactly a bug; simply the VRay material was reorganized. Older files can be converted to match the new material, but the reverse process is not possible.

              2Vlado:

is there any way you can "reorganize" materials even more
so that they at least show diffuse color and textures in Mat. Editor without a need to take a risk of crashing by turning on v-ray as a renderer for materials?
not to mention that it slows things down too

              thanks!

Turn off auto update in your material editor and it is pretty painless to use with VRay as the renderer. You just have to click the preview sphere/cube/cylinder to update it.

                  heh!

i guess if i stay out of max at all, i'll finally be able to live a happy life!

What does this mean 'reacts to UV vectors'?

don't wanna start a war around here but

maya's modeling is way better than max...

                            1. in max i think there is no way to cut interactively - you have to cut , rotate than cut again, no way of building a polygon interactively - same thing
                            2. the way you select an object is unpredictable - way harder to select an object than in maya...
                            3. no presence of outliner - only the schematic view which is not useful for that...

and a lot more unpleasant things that are bugging me in max - and no advantages ...

Again i am waiting for vray for maya...and this render rocks - we just have to wait to see it grow...

go go go Vlado , Peter....everyone from chaos!
