I've tested this plugin, and it's bloody excellent. It adds anywhere between 10-40% to the rendertime, but you can cap the memory it uses so that it might only use another 512mb.

I do agree though, that the current pricing structure is somewhat broken. As for the comments about contacting them - this isn't true at all. Graham is very easy to get ahold of and the support is great. Since the early days of HD Instance for Lightwave, updates are ongoing, and features added, so I wouldn't have any concerns there!

damned ! interesting one but i'm joining the others, what's that price?... Vrayscatter or forestpack are "free" compared with that... and i'm not sure that this "plugin" scatter anything other grass... Damned... 75$ plugins and 25$ per node with a price for 10 and more node are abit realistic price i think...
        i ll be back

It appears the pricing has been adjusted, and seems much more feasible now.

EDIT: I still think the price will have to drop to hook those of us that don't see this tool as a necessity though.

            interesting new prices.
I would be more than happy paying the $275 for a workstation license if I got unlimited rendering nodes.

same here. It's still too expensive for it's narrow focus.

Narrow focus ? Maybe if you're doing a lot of Dubai renders. Where I live 80% of exterior renders need grass
You can try the introductory coupon SIG2009 on the workstation license

Agreed it's still to expensive, in my opinion it's probably worth $300 for a workstation license and unlimited render node use.

Yea I got excited as well when I first saw it and if the $275 included unlimited render nodes I would prob buy it fairly quickly but at the current pricing model its tough to swallow for what it is. Yes its a cool looking plugin but $500 for just grass? Ill keep doing it the old way thanks...
                    Cheers,

IMO, max 149 euro with unlimited node. If you see, VRayScatter, more flexible tools (you can create grass, forest, city, tiled stuff etc... ) cost 200 euro with unlimited node.

I'd say 80%+ of my renders need grass too. But 80% of the time, I can comp in grass from photos, that kick the crap out of even this plugin. Its a one trick pony.

The new pricing is far more reasonable and simplified. Should do a better job of paying for itself now! The results I get/got with the beta make it totally worth it

It seems a bit odd to be that Vlado did the pitch for it. Is he in marketing now? (and not even Chaos Group stuff at that!)

they now have unlimited rendernodes for $495. You're still paying for it and I'm with most of you guys. It is just too much for what it does. Other plugins do the "same" and more, for less cash.

Also isn't there a way for all these "vray extra plugins" to be tied to your vray dongle license? Then we won't have all this crap about being node locked and hdd locked and who knows what other lock the next guy will come up with.
