The problem is, that some of you guys are probably not into the habit of baking LWF into your workflow. If you use one method of LWF, then you'll be fine. If you use the second method which is actually less work and provides better material feedback, then it's not accurate. VrayRT if I recall correctly double corrects.

It's bad enough, that a few of us veterans actually stopped using rt altogether because of it. I've tried going back to the second method (not baking it in) after years of using it, and it's pulling hairs from my nut sack.

I think burning it in, is a much better method. It hasn't been worth enabling RT and changing my entire method just so I can see a preview when I already have a pretty good idea how it's going to turn out anyways (or run a quick lc/lc preview if I really need to.)

Sorry, I'm glad some of you are doing well financially and got use of it. A few of us haven't and a year later it seems like I'm getting boned for being a supporter and an early adopter.

No, of course, as you see this thread is all about disappointment, and we do value the expressed opinions (which I myself tend to support to a large extent).

Hm, if I remember correctly this was fixed for SP2.

          • The upgrade price of every V-Ray for 3ds Max commercial license or V-Ray RT, bought between
          1st August and 1st of November, is: 150 Euro/ 190 USD/ 125 GBP
Am I understanding this right in that a VRay RT license can be transformed into a full copy of VRay 2.0?

I might just pick myself up a copy for home if that is the case!

Chaos has been great in support...I would say that they have the best support that i've seen for software
They have been up to this one issue that was brought up a bunch of times by several members and was not addressed.

it's not 100% about money is about respect the people how support new applications in very early stage....I'll pay the upgrade if it costs $510 or $1000.
I'm certain if you want to donate money, you can send a check to their address or paypal them with a message, "here's a gift from me to you!"

Or perhaps even better, maybe there should be a "donate now" button somewhere on this forum and see if you talk the talk or walk the walk.

No, the upgrade is per V-Ray license, regardless of how many RT licenses you have.

I figured as much since RT license depends on the VRay license...doesn't hurt to ask though.

This wouldn't be a bad idea if they could track it and know if you have donated enough to cover an upgrade or full license, that way you could effectually put a future release on layaway when you actually have the money to put towards it to invest in them. It would also make it easier to get that personal copy I have been longing for but just cannot dig up the funds for.

Oh well, maybe I should just start up my own personal VRay savings fund.

lol beestee. I was being sarcastic but to come to think of it, it actually isn't a bad idea lol...

This is the last I'll mention it. You'd just think there would be a little bit of a token break/consideration (even if it was only $100) to those that had made the RT purchase originally. I'll end my rant. Think it's been beaten up enough by now.

I see that those that bought the summer bundle, vray + rt + pdplayer (discounted) get the 2.0 upgrade for free. I purchased each separately, which no doubt cost me more, and there is no option in the upgrade scheme for this? I totally can't wait to see what you guys put into 2.0, and will pay whatever you ask of me, but it would be cool to get a discount for having purchased all 3 of these (heck while you're at it I purchased Phoenix too!).

It's simply because the upgrade policy makes me feel that I was foolish to be an early adopter of RT, and that if I had waited I would have gotten the product for free as part of the upgrade to 2.0. I realize that rationally, I could choose to view the cost of RT as buying me 18 months of early access to the tech, but emotionally I feel just a little bit cheated.

Either way, it's not enough to make me even consider a different rendering engine. It's just that when I reach for my credit card to pay for the upgrade it'll be with a slightly heavier heart than I would have if I had received a discount for already owning RT.

Vlado already said it was fixed. If it's still not in sp2, maybe doing a proper writeup would help him fix it instead of going off on one.

I don't know what you mean by "proper writeup." A group of us discussed this over a year ago:
                            http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...365#post403365

As for it being fixed, I thought he said it "was going to be fixed." In other words, it still hasn't been implemented yet unless you can show me otherwise. I bought it and assumed it would be corrected shortly afterwards, given Chao's great history on adding features and fixing bugs, that's why I didn't bother asking for a refund back then - plus, I was more than happy to support them. I thought all of these efforts were going to go into the next version so I've waited quite patiently. Over a year later, it's still useless for a group of us.

Yes, because I couldn't quite remember the original issue, but then I looked it up and remembered that we specifically fixed it.
