You should hang out over on AD's site before you jump in. There are reports that you can't open existing projects in MAX 2019.

A version of the "Arnold scene" is attached, if it helps you... but it shouldn't
(I also set it to render fast, not beautifully, to make this... there's a ton of noise, I'm aware of that)

If it proved problematic then it just feels like I'm being taken for a ride!
The biggest issue of 2017 was NVidia driver issue and that has been resolved by Nvidia.
2018 has some Qt quirks. But, we have not experienced stability issue compare to 2016.
We usually have very big scenes(10+mil). After I had used 2017 once, I could not go back. 2016 feels too slow.

Yes, agree with Vlado, OSL looks incredible. They integrate really a lot of OSLs, so its pretty good.AMD TR 7980X, 256GB DDR5, GeForce RTX 4090 24GB, Win 10 Pro

I have no idea why autodesk want to release a version every year when the previous years version is still laden with bugs, just fix the one you have out and then once it's 100% consider adding new shit...
2018 is a nightmare and there's no way we'll move to '19 for at least another 6-12 months...

I've been playing with it yesterday and it seems to be very stable so far. Not a proper production test but so far I found no drawbacks.
And the only freeze I had was while rendering and due to ridiculous high ram usage. And no crash.
I had many problems with 2018 on win 7 and used 2017 to this day but I might switch to 2019 now.
Gotta do some more test though.German guy, sorry for my English.

Same here but the trail is online. https://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/free-trial#
I installed on my home PC on which I also have an activated 2018. And the 2018 is still working.
So I didn't run into this problem: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...ns-for-3ds-max
But I dont know if I'd install it on my workstation before the offical "full" verion is online.
Edit: Seems that wasn't related to max 2019 so it should be save.Last edited by Ihno; 26-03-2018, 07:14 AM.German guy, sorry for my English.
