... if I try to resize the material editor window, I get strange effects.
Could you explain to me what you mean by strange effects?
First, some times, if I open the material editor, than the whole window is empty. If I resize it at the bottom edge, it looks good again.
If I take the right edge of the material editor window and move it to the right side, only the right part of the material editor increase. If I move the edge back, the left part (material browser and preview) increase. If I move the right edge several times, the material browser change the size chaotic.
Hmm, at an other machine it works. I will observe it.
EDIT: In photoshop the same effect. I suppose so that it is not a VfR problem.
Now, it's only the Vray frame buffer. I have tested other windows programms and the other rhino renderer, but this are working.
Could you give me some information about this trouble machine? Just the basic OS information, etc. Thanks.
I have tested it on three machines, but only my SONY Vaio Laptop P4 2.66GHz 750MB WinXP SP2 show the strange effect. I have tested it again now, - only the Vray framebuffer show me the problem at the moment.
In the last days/weeks I had a memory problem. I belive, it was a typical Sony Problem: my laptop freeze sometimes and don't start again for a while. I have found, that it helps to change the RAM memory slots. Now it works again, but today I have got problems after a standby state again. So, it could be, that my laptop is the problem.
For my current project I stick at RC1, because RC2 is not stable enough yet. Small bug: if I use an emitter material, than the emitter color is shown in the rendered rhino viewport, but if I set a texture, than this is not shown.

Is this a bug with RC1? I'm pretty sure we fixed all the emitter issues with RC2

It should be that only the left side of the window should ever change in size. That is the side with the preview / scene material. The right side of the window should never change size. I'm afraid I just don't know what you mean by "change the size chaotic". Perhaps you could get some screen caps or something to show me this behavior
I also have seen the blank material editor issue. It seems to just be a drawing problem and i haven't quite tracked it down.

Yes, RC1. I will test it at my laptop with RC2 later.
Joe, please take the right edge and move it several times. Here it dosn't work. First make the window bigger and than smaller. If I make it smaller, the left material browser increase. But not linear. In some positions it decrease also. I will make some screenshot later and send it per email.

OK, in the RC2 is the texture of the emitter invisible too.
For example: the visible texture in the viewport is important, if the user try to place a landscape outside a window and fine adjust the placement (horicon line ...).

If that happened on my screen it wouldn't have shipped No one around here is seeing anything out of the ordinary. Those screen shots would help me a lot. Some OS information would help as well. Thanks
[edit]
Do you have some a multi-monitor setup or anything out of the ordinary in that regard?
It seems that there are some problems using map channels other than 1. I thought this issue had been fixed in a previous build, but it seems that its back or caused by something else.
Ok I just found out that this issue only happens if no Channel 1 exists. If anyone has run into this problem make sure you have a channel 1 mapped to your object and then any higher channels will work. McNeel is working on this issue.
Heres an odd one - Not sure if it's been picked up?
Could someone else try this??
1. Simple GI environment (using HRDI) with a single 'panel' light
2. create a simple cube object
3. Import a previously saved material (say high gloss plastic) that doesn't have a 'bump' map
4. Apply a bump map - (using map channel 1 in mapping)
5. Render
No 'bump' effect?!?!
Also, If you then create a new material (with a reflection layer) and apply a bump map it renders OK.
But if you then attempt to change the bump map to another texture, it doesn't change - (remains the first texture), even if you delete the bump altogether???! (now that must be a bug?)
