That's the crash I've been getting all along, and it has always happened when adjusting jpeg textures.
Yes Brazil and RCM are developed by the same people. I think he will change those crash dump messages soon.

Craig do you still have crashes occurring while adjusting mapping with our most current RCM release?

    [edit]
If you do still have those crashes, are they repeatable at all or just apparently random?

... gamma value of the texture control is not visible in the window per default (maybe the grey out gamma option could be deleted)

... if I copy a material (material editor) that use a transparency map "inverted", than in the copy the "inverted" option is disabled

... the transparency map dosn't work at the emitter layer

... if I import an object, for example a tree, than the material of the imported object are imported too. But, if in the scene a material exist, than we have a problem - the imported material is ignored now.
A solution could be, that the imported material get an additional mark like "ceramic" -> "ceramic_1" -> "ceramic_2" ... ?

          • RCM Crash

            Corey/Joe,
I am uploading a test 3dm file, an RCM crash dump, and a 2mb sky jpeg.
I created the flat surface, then the sphere. Set some rendering settings, rendered. Fine.
Assigned my "S&S" material to the sphere, rendered, fine.
Then assigned the jpeg as a spherical background map, hit update (to preview the map, not the material) and I get the crash.
Open the file, assign the jpeg as map, hit update, no problem. I can't repeat the problem. Seems like it happens just the first time.

            I am using RC2 on Rhino 3.0SR5b.
At home last night I was using Rhino 3.0SR5 and 10mb HDR's with not a single crash. I was using HDR's both as GI and as background's, too. Also was using similar large jpeg's.

EDIT: I should add that I just tried again with a new file and couldn't repeat it. But- when I did the first file, I had to change the renderer from Treefrog to Vray. When I started the second file it was already on Vray. Could that have anything to do with it?

I'm at work, so I won't see email until later. Or, respond here.

              @Micha
Ok I'll check those items out, I'm a bit behind at the moment so I'll get on these ASAP

              @Craig
Thanks for the scene, I also will get to that as soon as I can.

              • ***PLEASE POST ALL RC2 BUGS HERE***

I just got a file to RCM crash when applying a 10mb HDRI as a GI environment.
                But...
I opened a new file, cut and pasted eveything from the old file into it, settings the same, and it did NOT crash. Maybe there is something about the older file? I've been working on it for months, so maybe it's something from an older RCM?

Trouble with Hi-rez HDRi's - coming from earlier betas...
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

... texture interface: texture dosn't match in the preview window. It seems to be a problem of scal and offset.

... checker texture: default preview show wrong tiling (looks like scale 4). If I set the scale not equal 1, it works.

... I'm not sure it is a bug or a wish, but I think the filter map option should be useful for procedural maps too. For example good for a fine checker procedural texture.

For some of the textures( I think just checker and grid ) that require tiling for them to appear right I automatically do a tiling of 5 I think. I guess I should take that out.

It's an old problem, but never posted here.

I miss a way to deassign a Vray material from an objects. Example: I have done a mistake and assign a material to an object. But, I want to use only a simple rhino material. If I set the material "basic", it is ignored and the Vray material is used again.

At the light properties is an "units" chooser without control. Maybe it is forgetten.

Nope- not forgotten. But it won't be hooked up for 1.0

                              Scenario:

Create an object, give it a material and mapping. Copy the object from one file to another, using copy/paste. In the new file, I've lost the mapping coordinates, and when I do try to access the Mapping pull-down menu in the new file, I get an instant crash.

                              VfR RC2, Rhino Sr5b, WinXP Pro, SP2.
