Thanks Micha - unfortunately its still not working??! (have you tried it on an old file model? - or just on a new scene??)

So is it something I'm doing in the reinstall??

Could someone tell me how they are uninstalling and reinstalling successfully?? I'm using the Uninstall via control panel then manually deleting the V4R folder from the Rhino 'Plugins' section - then installing the new release, is this correct???

      Client now getting impatient??! oops?!

Edit: Just opened old scene - imported basic matte_plastic material and used a number of 'Anisotropy' & 'Glossiness' settings - no effect??! I cannot get the textured effect as shown by Micha above??!

Here is a test render with settings - they worked previously, but not now?

Here's a sample of what I was getting before?! (exactly the same scene, lighting etc.)

When I remove an old VfR build, I use the VfR installer option to 'Remove', I typically don't use the Control Panel.

Unfortunately I've tried that as well - but thanks for response.

Edit: Now uninstalled latest Rhino service release 5b then reinstalled - then rebooted and re-installed latest (official release - with serial number) V4R - rebooted and - No change!!!!

Surely this must be a bug???

... has you disabled the "glossy effects" at the general Vray options?

Here a problem from me: I can not scale the noise. I have try frequency and Vray map tilling, but it dosn't change. I try to get a brush effect per stretched proc. noise.

I left an animation running last night with all windows minimized. But the progress window can't be minimized. When I restored all windows, I couldn't close the progress window until I did one more render. Clicking cancel and clicking the "X" button wouldn't close it. It would be nice to be able to minimize it, too.

Hi Micha - thanks for response - unfortunately 'glossy effect' is turned off in all the scenes I'm trying to render - both old and completely new??! I'm can't getting the 'Glossiness' settings to work at all?! (no texture at all)

Any other thoughts? - I'm getting a little desperate now??!

You have set the flag for "glossy effects"? Sure. Glossy is "on"? Could you send me your scene per email? Simple scene: a sphere with glossy material.

Send me the scene please. Also tell me the VRay for Rhino build date you see from the command line when you start Rhino

I'm not sure if this is a bug if no one else is having the issue. I think there might be something else going on.

Yeah - the Noise texture is kinda weird in its implementation. It doesn't use the UVW completely. I think I will modify it to be based on UVW for next service release. I did make it rely on UVW for environment mappings - thats why it previously didn't work in environments. Sorry for the inconveniance - we were worried about changing it because it would have changed how the noise looks in any previous scenes

Micha - you star!!!! - once again you've saved the day!!!!?
I'm embarrassed to say that 'glossy effects' seems to be the problem!! - I've turned it on and it works!! (I still don't know why it turned it's self off when I installed the latest version? ) - But many thanks!!

Thanks Joeb - I was getting concerned that it wasn't a bug and therefore maybe shouldn't be in the section!! - My fault ?! Sorry!!

You can turn the progress window off from the global options rollout(otherwise it will pop up each time you render even if you previously closed it). I'll add a minimize button also though.

I have a directional light and the intensity multiplier sliders don't work. They did when I first created it. My options had lights/shadows off and I turned them on. Don't know if that affected it.
I create a pointlight and the sliders work, but a new directional and they don't. I canenter the value manually, but I think it might be a bug.
