I agree the parsing can take a very long time sometimes (say 5 mins.) I notice it most on large files that use a lot of components. I'm guessing it's just not as efficient to pass mesh info in SU's 32bit environment compared to Max, plus computing through all the components.

I'd be glad to try one out if you can send one over to our bug tracker (vfswip@chaosgroup.com). I recommend zipping the file first.
It is uncommon for me that there is anywhere from 30-90 seconds before the VFB opens. I am working on a model now, it just took 98 seconds from the VFB to open and start rendering. It's a pretty large file but that's not umcommon for me.

      87MB SU file
      469,000 Faces
108 materials (most are standard with no reflection or refraction)
I have a Intel Xeon E5-2665 with 16 threads running. I actually went from a quad core processor a few weeks ago and see no improvements in the parsing times, but I figured I probably would not. Rendering is about 40% faster with the extra cores.

Not sure I can share the file as the project is confidential.

I wouldn't want anyone to violate any confidentiality agreements for the sake of an unofficial benchmark, that's a test that is better better suited for beta testing. I look forward to hearing cheers and shouts of joy.

I'm kinda going with Devin on this one - I'd rather the beta is out as soon as possible than to devote any resources to a teaser video. That said, if there is something already recorded and it's just a matter of posting, well... I'd love to see where things are.

Will it be built on the same VRay core 1.90.03?

Is that a raw render or did you use a lot of PP?. I think your render could be enhance if it included more detail to your model. Maybe some instance grass or Forrest in the back ground. Also try Using dome lighting. Look forward to your improvements.. Please post soon.

spent about 6 hours in photoshop doing the pp, but yeah, you're right, I should probably toss some other bells and whistles in there . I was just showing the v-ray core version in the framestamp.

Well it's gone really quiet once again regarding the Vray for Sketchup (Mac) update...... I'm beginning to get a bit worried and thinking of moving over to another render application - which is a dam shame after spending £500 last year, only to find it wasn't too stable on a Mac. Problem is I want it to work as its such a perfect combination - any update on the future upgrade (time-scale, specification etc etc) would be good....

                              Cheers,

Yeah, a mac version would be good. I use mac on travel and sometimes want to test on my laptop (macbook).
