Over the past couple of months I have been trying alternatives for rendering Gaussian Splats. Mostly I was searching for options to relight Gaussian Splats. This would give me more freedom. Today I was reflecting to all the tests I did. I have to say that the fidelity and details of the splats rendering with Vray is the best result! So I was wondering how far your team is with implementing this option? Do you have an estimated date when you could introduce relighting of the splats? Really looking forward to your answer.
Vlado did some experimenting with it over the holiday, but I wouldn’t count on having this released anytime soon though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQDQdEtKbBk
Well, I do have an internal build that works, and am doing tests on it these very days.
I have no idea what this means in the context of the actual release date, but the youtube video wasn’t an ad-hoc demo: below a cosmos asset i turned into a GS via mesh2splat and relit.
Left to right, the resolution is ever lower.
Actually, we have something already here. Feel free to test it out and share some thoughts. Keep in mind that a hard light cannot be overwritten with this functionality. The feature is placed inside the setting of the Gaussian splat.
Please do not use the provided build in the link for production work. Use it for testing this particular feature.
Thanks.
