I’m new to Enscape and am having trouble with planting entourage not showing correctly. The rendered trees in enscape have very little correlation with the RPC trees that I’m using in Revit. The tree trunks, in particular are mis-shapen and out of proportion. Shrubs are equally poor in quality. Can anyone shed light on how to find compatible trees and shrubs in for enscape?
Thank you.
Hey mtills,
welcome to Enscape!
The rendered trees you see in Enscape are 3D models we provide as replacements for the default set of RPC elements, as we have made the experience that the flat, cardboard like appearance of RPC elements wouldn’t work very well in the realistic 3D scene you’re able to create with Enscape.
They do correlate in terms of shape, size and type of plant with the RPC elements they replace, however, they don’t display exactly the same image.
Feel free to take a look at our Free Sample Revit Projects - here you’ll find a project named ‘RPC Test Project’. Open it in Revit to find a neatly arranged overview with all the RPC elements and their replacements in Enscape.
Still, we’re aware of the growing demand for a larger number of elements to place in your scene, which is why we are currently working on the ability to display RPC elements the way they are being displayed in Revit.
This feature is expected to being contained in the next release of Enscape, version 1.7.
In the meantime, of course, if you have access to any models you can import correctly into Revit, they should be displayed correctly in Enscape, as well.
I like the swapped out plants better, but they are limited. When I turn off this option the RPC plants still don’t display as well as the Realistic display setting in Revit. They are fairly pixilated and not very presentable to clients. Are you working on a way to better display them, or do you have some other plugin that is better supported? Entourage is so important for scale and creating shadows/reflections for a more realistic exterior environment!

I am keen to understand the criteria Enscape uses to determine which equivalent RPC trees they swap out for. To have some understanding would then equip us with the ability to know which trees to place in Revit so we achieve the desired result in Enscape.
What are your plans around development of other trees. (i.e. localised planting - in Australia we’d love to see a Eucalyptus for example).
Cheers
Brendon
@angelo_marasco , thank you for your feedback! I have forwarded your message to our developers as a feature request. We do not have another plugin besides Enscape.
@BrendonReid , the criteria are fairly simple. The default set of RPC elements which is being shipped with Revit is being replaced each by a fixed 3D model. Enscape will recognize the RPC used and exchange it by a particular 3D model.
For a neat overview on which RPC models are being replaced by which 3D model, feel free to have a look at our ‘RPC Test Project’, available on this page: https://enscape3d.com/free-sample-revit-projects/
We love the replacements, definite upgrades over typical. However I did notice some larger out of proportion tree trunks as well. And there is a little trial and error to be done on selection until you learn what’s going to be what. But trial and error is so much easier and instantaneous in Enscape that it’s a joy.
It reminded me of how Trees have looked in 3ds Max with the Forest pack plugin at default, but then you could adjust the trunk widths in that plugin later. Not sure if that’s possible here. Although that was my first automatic reaction, to check Revit detail settings for the ability to change the trunk width like I would anything else. Of course these are archvision RPC items, so not quite.
Hey @seysearles
the screenshots shows you’re still running a rather outdated version of Enscape (2.3.2) - we’ve recently release version 2.5. Please try to upgrade first - this will make support much easier for us and you’ll also get a ton of bug fixes and new features ![]()
