    Ah great.
Looking forwards to seeing how my card does in the new build

      • Can you try the 290 driver?

        • My single 460 gtx 2gb 800mhz on cores: 8m 00s (nearly 400,000 kpaths/s) with 270.61 or 290.36 driver.
With 258.96 driver my 4 460s were touching 500,000 kpath/s each... (also see my old tests on this trhead, page 12).
Vlado, no way, every driver after 258.96 is 20% slower...

            • So the modified installer is now on the web site; the V-Ray RT version is 2.20.02. With the 290.36 driver, it renders the test scene on my GeForce 580 GTX for 3m 5s, which is very similar to what I got before with V-Ray RT 2.10 and the 263.x drivers. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Note: the nVidia OpenCL compiler from the 290.36 driver package will take about 4.5 GB of RAM to compile the code. Make sure you have it free

              Best regards,
              Vlado

maybe there is something wrong with the web site, I can only see the Dec 16,2011 - 2.20.01 release

                • Yep, the official version name is still the same. It is difficult for me to change the entire installation for an official build, so we just updated the relevant files.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

                        • I am sorry for this stupid question, but how excatly do I use the benchmark.vrscene file with V-Ray Standalone?

                          • Does this help? From earlier in the thread...

So you can get the .vrscene package here: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/scenes/vr...ch_vrscene.rar

To run it with the GPU engine, pass the option -rtengine=3 to V-Ray Standalone. Note that the scene is intentionally set up to render slow with the production renderer (there are a lot of reflection bounces).

                            Best regards,
                            Vlado

                            • Does V-Ray Standalone come along with the usual V-Ray Workstation Installation? Not sure if I even have it

Not with V-Ray for 3ds Max, but it does come with V-Ray for Maya (and V-Ray for Softimage).
