Autograss plugin

  • Scan and send by email is what I did, I needed an urgent license replacement over a week ago, since my machine ID changed after installing Win 7, and deadline was close.

    I eventually had to resort to using a key generator... to generate a license file for my workstation. With clients breathing down my neck and already delivered concepts containing the Autograss I had no other alternative. I don't believe in pirating software, but I do believe I have a right to use the software I paid for.

    I still have had no reply on my original license replacement request and have notified them now of how I temporarily 'fixed' it. The plugin itself is really great, but the responce-time on support sucks so bad I have to advice to stay away from it as long as this doesn't change.

    (if mentioning using a keygen like this is in violation with any of the Chaosgroup forumrules, then feel free to remove this post, i'll rephrase)

    • It's madness, especially since the way max plugins work they can mess up a whole scene file if they no longer operate.
      I'm very reluctant using 3rd party plugins, also free ones, after the Color Correct disaster.

      • yeah I won't touch vrayscatter or autograss with a 10 foot pole. I need more serials and authorizations and shit like I need another hole in my head.

          i just switched from win xp 64 to windows 7 and so i also switched to Max 2011 Design and to Vray 1.5 SP 5 and to the latest RPC plugin. Everything worked fine (Vray 1.5 SP 5 like a charme) but now i hang with RPC ... the damned license organization now drives me nuts ...
          so i fully agree if you use 10 plugins it takes a lot of time and sometimes like with Color Correct ...

                • I 'm creating a list of all my assets such as software, models, plugins and free scripts with license descriptions, version, etc....like everybody said, upgrading once a year is a real pain...every year is getting more difficult to do it ...on top of that we are getting older too
                  regarding those plugins that have more security than 3ds Max and and the price are 1/20th or less, specially companies who develop tools for Vray I would like to see their licenses someway integraded into the dongle(if Chaos accepts that of course).

                  • dont think that woudl be possible....
                    something must have happened outthere with the Autograss guys....not long ago (in early spring) i had some problem with the licencing and i was getting really fast feedback.
                    I would say that as the Autograss got more popular, theyve started to have problems with replying to the users due to the floods of emails who knows.....i hope it all gets better......
                    how about if we write a petition and send ??? )))

                    • The e-mail I got from the Autograss people was that they are a small company and they do not have the man power to keep up; they seem to be doing the best they can with who they have. It isn't an excuse... you hire more people.... it sure put a black eye on the plug-in developers!

                      • My Autograss just stopped working today. Has anybody had any issues. Nothing has changed on my workstation and I am getting a can't find license error. I have an e-mail in to them, but I haven't had any replies.

                        • have you changed the computer name?
                          I ve had the same issue just yesterday, but i was completely reinstalling computer changing comp name , users ...everything.
                          Receiving good support form them now i have to say!
