Seems to be a bit slow to render this kentucky blue grass. Anyone else tried the demo?

I bought it yesterday and so far Im very happy with it.
I had some problems with DR at first, but now it seems to be working. (not sure why, I havent changed anything....) Ill let you know if the problem comes back. I have also emailed Graham about it but havent gotten a reply yet.
But apart from that its pretty awsome. It takes literally a couple of seconds to set up a basic but nice looking lawn, and if you spend a few more minutes playing with settings and adding maps it looks pretty fooking realistic. Takes a bit more time to render than to my usual displacement grass, but looks better...
It is a bit pricey for what it does... but considering the time Ill save not having to spend ages setting up my grass like I usually do I think its worth it. I only have one workstation and one node too, so it wasnt that bad for me. If I had a bigger renderfarm I wouldnt buy it with the current price-setup...

I ran my first scene using autograss today and it work great. I am playing with settings to get some more organic looking grass and I'll post something later. The money spent will be returned after a couple jobs. Although most posts are saying the plug-in is to high in price I think it is priced fine and will save me time on every job.
I installed the workstation, slave server, and 5 slaves without an issue. I love puying things I see my self using a lot.Bobby Parker

Great to here from your experiences Glorybound, love to see picts from your results, I'm now using VRayscatter to get results of grass, but getting trouble to have large scens on birds-eye persp. Maybe you can post the pros and cons about Vrayscatter and VRay grass another time

mmm. First attempts at installing the 64bit demo on my XP64 system don't work. I get the error that it is not a valid win32 application!!! Yes, I know, that's why I am *trying* to install the 64bit version!!
Oh well, I'll try installing the 32bit version instead.
<ok, downloaded it again and this time it worked. A good worker always blames his tools!>Last edited by tricky; 21-08-2009, 04:26 AM.Kind Regards,

I'lll
I am not sure you can compare the two (vrayscatter and Autograss) because they both have different uses. Vrayscatter crashed my MAX 2010 so I had to remove it so now I am using Forest Lite. The grass on my current scene using Autograss worked perfectly, but I have to work on making the grass look less perfect. When I get results worth showing I'll post them. So far unless you zoom in the grass is just a green mass. When you zoom in you can see each blade and it looks great!Bobby Parker

I rendered out one from their sample files. It rendered at huge settings in minutes.
