Thanks Vlado and peter for all the answers.

Please have a look @ my Post with Suggestions for interface improvements in v1.5. Some of them are very easy to implement.

In the 1.45.xx internal build, single frame mode got replaced with a some sort of a bucket rendering mode. What do you plan to do with this thing? Maybe this was a beginning for a Single Frame Imap calculation mode that works distributed over network?

@photonC: I dont think Vray 1.5 will include Dispersion. Many users dont need it that often and there are ways to fake it. So i think this is realtively low on the todo list.

      thanks..

Is there any chance that Vray gets ported to XSI too ?? (well after Maya of course)

With Vray becoming available to Maya will this mean we can networkrender to both PC and MAC computers?

          Thanks

You are right Linux runs much more stabil and windows compatible on a G5. Plus, you can cluster it much better then with Windows or OsX. Next Linux renders faster because it doesn't habe such a over 'active' interface like OsX or WinXP.
Anyhow our performance test still talking different: an AMD 2800 dual renders 20% faster then a G5 2Gig dual, and it costs only half.

              regards,

              robert

vray stand alone also for linux!

                      -oconv

Here is a link to some comparisons of lighting solutions produced by VRay and radiosity in 3dsmax:

                        http://www.vrayrender.com/stuff/ligh...mparisons.html

As to what other features VRay 1.5 may or may not have, I won't comment; it would be best to wait and see.

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

                          nice!

could you put render times on those??

                          thnaks,

                          paul.

It's somewhat pointless, since there is a lot of room to play with settings and get lower/higher rendering times (one can change the radiosity meshing settings, the lightmap sample size etc). Also, the scenes are very simple. Anyways, I've updated the page to include render times as well:

                                thx for the comparisons.

                                which settings are used for:

                                - first bounce (1.0)
                                - second bounce (0.5)

then... is there any rule for the materials:
                                - diffuse color 50-70% brightness (like diffuse bounce of a material 50-70%)

what if i want to use caustics:
-there are many many different caustic multiplierer in the light, lightoverride(vray-system panel) and in the caustics panel.
Is there any rule for caustics that a can archive a valid reflection of light?

Vlado, what do you think about a global switch which overrides all that different settings with correct settings?
