Does the scene render black normally? If you could send me the scene I can see whats going on. Private message me if you have any questions/comments about sending me the file
The scene renders ok if I turn off distributed rendering. I actually tried this with two different scenes. Both produce the same result. A black pic except for a few buckets.

    [edit]
If you are using HDRI to light the scene the textures must be in an accessible location for the slaves.
No HDRI, just two rectangular lights.

Are you using the physical camera? if you are, then maybe there are some issues with the camera information being copied to the slave machines. If a parameter gets changed it may result in underexposure or overexposure depending on which one it was and how it was changed (ie a decimal shift in the iso could go from 200 to 20 drastically decreasing the exposure) Also make sure that you have the most recent spawner installed on the slave machines. An old spawner may be the cause of the issue.

I'm sorry - I don't totally follow you on this. Are you saying if you edit a material you then need to re-apply it afterward?
Sorry Joe, I'll try and be more specific:

(This is specific to assigning a material by Layer)

First, I assign a material to a layer, do a test render, then click on the material in the material library slot in the layers panel, click edit, adjust it, then click ok. Then When I re-render the scene the material still renders the same as the old material (i.e. it hasn't changed/refreshed etc.)

It only changes if - after I finish editing and close the material library - I then browse and click apply - even though the previous material no longer exists in the material library! This appears to be unique to assigning a material by layer. If I assign a material by plug-in to a specific object, it updates the moment I make any changes in the material editor.

        Cheers

        Paul

Hmm, it works here too, only IM save dosn't work.

LC saves fine. IR doesn't. Haven't tried Caustics/photon maps

Perhaps you accidentally unchecked "Don't delete". I've not tried it that way.

I have resolved the IR map saving issue in my dev build. As a temporary workaround - if you create an empty file with the name of the irmap you wish to save then I believe it will work properly. The error was that instead of creating the file - I was trying to open it. So if the file isn't there it fails. So if you desperately need to save an IR map until the next release, you can try that little hack.

Thanks for taking the time to break it down for me - I'll see what I can track down.

Did think of that but haven´t had a chance to try it out yet. Probably will try tomorrow.

I messed around a bit with your scene and didn't run into issues. So I may have fixed whatever was causing that issue in my development build - or whatever is causing your problem isn't in place on my machines.

Hi, problem with distributed rendering again...
I use the last instalation file of VRFR 4 (it called VRayForRhino4_1.00.exe - last updated 6.5.2007 ). I comprehended that for distributed rendering I have to copy the directory called Render slave to the other computers and there I run the DRSpawner.exe. But the DRSpawner dosn't want to run. I tryed that on two computers with the same reason. If I try it to run on computer with instaled Rhino 4 and VRFR 4 it runs. Please do you know where is the problem or if I do something bad?
                      Thanks for replay!

                        Hi Joe,

Downloaded the latest build today and installed it. Tried distributed rendering with the same scene that I sent you. Now it works fine here also.

Cylindrical mapping: if I set repeat 2, than I see it at the viewport, but if I render, than I get repeat 4.

I setup a ceramic tile material with diffuse/reflection/bump textures, but the viewport show the bump and not the diffuse texture.
