      • I think the warmer light from #98 and #101 adds to the realism as opposed to the cold light in your last image. It is something about knowing that she isn't real that makes her look more dead in cold light I think.

            • Hi there,

              Here's an update, without the facial hairs for now..

              Vlado : I have a bug with the hairs ( since I changed their shape, made them less hight and wide.. now they render noisier and look's like they have no scattering to them.. I don't know what's happening :S ) any idea ? EDIT : hey was my fault.. apparently the main hairs were rendering using the hairfarm render... I don't know how it got check but I removed it and it's fine now

              • Love the new lighting, finally you ditched the frontal key.
                I didn't read the entire thread, are you using fastsss2 or vrayskin? are you scattering gi or not?
                Btw your dedication and patience to details is impressive, congratulation.

                  It's sss2, no scattering GI ( too slow.. but maybe for the final render I'll use it..) that render the skin was in raytrace mode. but all the other in prepass.

                    • Btw have you thought of giving her some expression? She looks pretty, but somehow rather lifeless. Maybe make her look to the side or something...

                      • YEs she will be rigged by a good rigger so later she will smile etc. but for now I'm concentrating on getting her look good in a super neutral pose ^^

                        • here's an update ( yes the front ligthing is back ^^ it will not make an other one with the IBL a bit more up and on the side..)

                          some changes, hair's look better now and no facial hairs for those tests..

                              Thanks for the answers man, really helpful as always.
                              I had to use prepass lately because no matter what i always ended up with a bad connection between eyes/head/lagrimal with raytrace, but i found what i think is a bug with vrayskin/prepass/scatterGi. Glad you are not having this kind of issues

                              • Im starting to really like this

                                One of the areas that is kinda bothering me is the eye. In particular the corners of the eye look cg. Here is what I was thinking in terms of detail need some eye wet as well as sss, looks too dark non sss like at the moment:
