The VrayHDRI loader should open the browse dialogue automatically when it's freshly created.
Just like the bitmap loader. Sometimes I use bitmap loaders and then run the bitmap to hdri script just because of the more clicks the hdri loader needs.
Also, if possible, could we get VrayHDRI loaders when drag and drop textures on the material editor if vray is the current render engine?

Better displacement with higher quality and less ram consumption.

I realize it’s not a ‘feature’ exactly, but a roadmap for development path and progress would be awesome. You might get fewer repeat questions/requests, too

Has been asked/proposed a few times...something with deaf ears and falling.

VrayHDRI with a region window instead of only numeric.

Being able to see what you are cropping is better (how it words for the standard bitmap loader).

                1. Vraydisplacement Modifier changes:

                A) make viewport preview of displacement. Would be incredibly useful for a couple of scenarios (for example when placing objects exactly on displaced objects, where standard displacement modifier fails (32bit for example).
                B) make option to exclude in reflections or other calculations. Not sure if this still applies, but in the past I had massive rendertime issues in scenes with displaced objects in reflections, where ram would quickly run out, even if it would be totally fine not to have displaced objects show correctl in reflections.
                C) Same as asked before: make handling of vraydisplacement and vraymaterial displacement the same or unify somehow (no way simple way of shifting displacement map in material, like there is in the modifier)

One more thing - in VFB, will be usefull if we can blend between standard and denoised versions AND on/off bloom and glare effects separatelly. Now its little bit weird that standard version is always without bloom and denoised is always with bloom. So this two things could be helpfull. And maybe pass with only bloom/glare.

i can think of a few:

*export displacement as vraymesh (i understand that the displacement is generated as a mesh before loading onto gpu for cuda rendering, so the underlying system should be there?)

*new one for today: bump shadows exposed in vraymtl as an option.. i understand it doenst work well with procedurals, hence making it optional

*as earlier, a *good* procedural cloud/atmosphere system, which gives convincing results with vraysky..

                    *as earlier: lightmixer

                    *rendering 100x faster?

Something I would love (but may be beyond v-ray primarily being a render engine) would be a complete overhaul of V-Ray Fur, full control over everything, we have had some many problems with Ornatrix in the past I would love Chaos Group to make V-Ray fur a viable competitor.

@maxwood...yeah, I think a lot of us would love chaosgroup to fix all the things in 3ds max we don´t like, because they are doing such a great job with every new feature or tool and the support is so great in general...

                          They should buy Max

Speaking of the support... it could be better lately imo.
Many threads with clearly technical problems won't get an official answer (yes also the ones that haven't got an unofficial but right answer). And if they get one it often takes very long. Like 1-2 weeks which is waay too late if you are in production. Potential bug reports on the other hand are answered very fast...
(This does not include the phoenix fd forums at all)
To make a wish out of this: Better support in the Vray(max) forums.. Like it was 2 years ago.

A compact library with base materials and a couple of standard vray scenes (archviz, automotive, studio, ect).

Would be nice to somehow create a baseline that you can base everything on. I've created one based on a number of suppliers/tutorials (quixel, pgskies, early grant warwick, etc) but it always has a certain subjectivity.
I think is would be fantastic!! We are only 6 months in to VRAY and Materials are a pain for us. We don't have have a lot of time to spend on individual customer renders, I work for a Aircraft company and we turn stuff pretty quick. It would be nice for my users to have a start point instead of creating custom materials with texture links all over the place. Something similar to the old Mental Ray ARCH VIZ stuff would be great

It's not like we don't want to cover every thread in the forum - trust me, we would love to. But the user count, product count, scene and question complexity has grown a lot over the past years. Most of the questions require a lot of time for scene checking and I'm sure nobody from our side want to give a reply unless they are 100% sure of what are they saying. I believe the V-Ray community is capable of helping each other on most of the problems. There are plenty examples here how the knowledge is passed between the users and even that we learn new stuff from you.

But let's not get out of topic here
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

                                1. Material Browser to save materials + textures. Drag and Drop + preview. Maybe this "plugin" could be used in maya+vray, max+vray and custom software+vray. Could be a huge step for automotive industry companies
